To recap the first post in this series; mid-March 2016 I reconvened with the crew at Vertical Shot Expeditions for a reconnaissance trip in Patagonia; two weeks of sailing around Cape Horn and the Beagle Channel in our expedition yacht Selma. Post-sailing, I spent a week trekking around the Dientes de Navarino; a 5-day route through the mountainous island of Navarino at the very southern tip of Chile.
Peak Design supported Alex Buisse and I on the trip, providing us with gear which proved invaluable; the Slide straps & Capture Clips ensuring our cameras were always at the ready, along with the Shell covers keeping the salt spray off the bodies & lenses.
The third and final post in this series contains the images shot on medium format film.

After mooring for the night, a zodiac ride to shore followed by a short hike through the forest delivered stunning views of Pia fjord.
Ushuaia (Argentina) far left on the distant shore (beneath the snow-capped peaks), Puerto Williams (Chile) bottom right on the near shore.
Occasionally the clouds would clear long enough at night to reveal a stunning view of the Milky Way. The two Magellanic Clouds also very visible (next to the Milky Way); irregular dwarf galaxies visible from the southern hemisphere.
The southernmost trekking route in the world, the Dientes Circuit on Isla Navarino is a seldom frequented 53km circuit through a wilderness of rugged terrain, lakes dotted with beaver dams and mountain passes where the Andes crumble into the Antarctic Plate, the final piece of land before Cape Horn.
On to part 3…
