I'm very fortunate to have my photos feature as the 16 default Raspberry Pi OS desktop wallpaper images, meaning they are available as backgrounds for all of the owners of the 50+ million Raspberry Pi devices out in the world.
With each major OS release a different image is chosen as the new default and it's always exciting to see them in use out in the wild, a particular favourite being spotting this Raspberry Pi-powered information screen whilst rushing through Auckland's Britomart train station in 2019:
Every so often I get asked about where or how a particular image was taken, so here's a rundown of the shots with a brief explanation of each. These were all taken between 2012 and 2016, and I tried to choose compositions that were both impactful and recognisable (although perhaps not quite as recognisable as that Windows XP one) along with providing enough space along the edges for desktop icons to retain sufficient contrast.
